Default Can anyone recommend a good mixed protein shake?

My main protein shake is Optimum Nutrition 100% Gold Standard, and I usually have a few of them throughout the course of a day inbetween meals. Obviously this can become quite expensive over the course of a month so i'm thinking of cutting the gold standard down a bit and only having a shake first thing in the morning, and after a workout.

Throughout the rest of the day though, i'm thinking about giving a cheaper, mixed protein shake a try - can anyone recommend a good one?

I would agree with you in choosing a cheaper protein.
I did use 100% golden standard whey before, and the fact that it costs a lot and barely lasts for 2 weeks makes it an unattractive purchase.

I usually buy 2 types of proteins, gainer protein (after workout - during a bulk) and regular 81% protein powder (for morning/night). While I'm on a cut, I usually take protein isolates (also known as 0 fat 0 carb protein). I would suggest you do the same.

To be honest with you, In my opinion, the brand of protein doesnt really make a difference, what matters is what are the macros in it, the amount of carbs, sugar, and fats, aminos and things like that, so in the end it is really up to you.

True protein is a good source of bulk raw protein and it's relatively cheap you can also purchase individual aminos like lysine by itself or valine/isovaline, etc. Pretty cool - you can mix your own supplement drink with their ingredients. http://trueprotein.com

Another option is NuBlend 7. It has immediate release whey, medium release egg/milk protien and extended release casein/caseinate proteins for a extended release protein supplement. The taste is similar to most protein drinks. http://nucare.com/product_info.php?products_id=28
