Default What does everyone have for breakfast?

Just curious as to what everyone has for breakfast; i'm always looking for new ideas

At the moment I only have enough time to hook myself up with some porridge and a protein shake. I've tried adding eggs into my shake but it's not the nicest of tastes first thing in the morning

I have myself 4 scrambled eggs (2 yolks, 4 whites), large bowl of oats, a banana 2 scoops of protein shake. Then wash it down with a large glass of cranberry juice then a pint of water!

What's funny is an hour or so after breakfast, i'm starving again!

Wow I could never eat that much so early in the morning lol. Not to mention i'm always too busy to make such a large breakfast - I end up getting up right at the very last moment, just to rush around the kitchen, throwing my breakfast together before running out the front door in order to get to work!

How about trying pancakes. If i can recall correctly i used to use this recipe;

5-7 egg whites or less whites and some whey powder... or both.
2 yolks
1/2 cup to 3/4 cup of oats
some cinnimon
some sweetners
squeezy honey on top.

In the words of Gordon..... DONE!

Perfect muscle building, catabolism smashing breakfast, may i add delicious too.

Sounds like a good idea to me! That's a monstor portion of eggs too lol, don't you get egg farts?

Cinnamon has become a god send to me, I used to make shakes using a scoop or two of protein, some oats, peanut butter and a banana but they tasted rank - sticking a bit of cinnamon on seems to make it just that little bit edible for me to stomach lol.

hahaha, gota put up with the smell.

Sounds like gd idea puttin cinnamon in with your home made weight gainer. Might try if get back onto shakes like that. Personally hate the musty taste of the oats.

The pancakes are really nice to start off with but like anything having them all the time just gets boring and becomes a task but if want a change i strongly suggest them because are amazing to start off with, may try staggering my breakfast because like your self just feel sick in mornings and the same porridge and eggs is a right task!! Also think you mentioned in a rush in mornings, pancakes not gd for that situation, take a while to prepare but they go pretty quick lol. maybe few less eggs but have a whey shake whilest making the pancakes to get your body out of the catabolism, and force yourself up earlier to make them.....easier said than done, i cant lol.

I really do need to start getting my arse out of bed earlier to have a decent breakfast, because at the moment porrage and a protein shake just don't cut it.

I used to get REALLY bored of eating a big bowl of oats every morning, but now i've started putting a bit of honey on top and it's become much easier to eat.

I don't mean to sound like your mother, but you really shouldn't skip breakfast.

Here's a small article on why it's important

Quote:
The American Dietetic Association says breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

Despite the healthful benefits, breakfast may be the meal that is most often neglected or skipped. Eating breakfast not only aids in weight management, it fuels the body to help provide energy, better concentration and problem-solving ability throughout the day, according to the food and nutrition experts at the American Dietetic Association.

Why Breakfast?

Forty years of breakfast related studies show that jump starting the day with breakfast benefits everyone -- children, teens and adults. "Eating breakfast is very important for the brain and the body first thing in the morning", said Los Angeles registered dietitian Gail Frank, spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association. "Breakfast skippers often feel tired, restless or irritable in the morning."

Breakfast is the first chance the body has to refuel its glucose levels, also known as blood sugar, after eight to 12 hours without a meal or snack. Glucose is essential for the brain and is the main energy source. Blood glucose also helps fuel the muscles needed for physical activity throughout the day.

"Breakfast is also very important for weight loss and weight management," Frank said. "You 'break the fast' of not eating for the past eight to 12 hours. It helps curb your hunger and prevent binge eating later in the day. Breakfast is important to manage your weight and potentially lose weight by eating less calories throughout the day."

During National Nutrition Month and all year long, the American Dietetic Association suggests simple ideas to help add breakfast to your daily eating plan.

* Ready-to-eat whole-grain cereal topped with fruit and a cup of yogurt
* Whole-grain waffles topped with peanut butter, fruit or ricotta cheese
* A whole-wheat pita stuffed with sliced hard-cooked eggs
* Hot cereal topped with cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice or cloves
* Peanut butter on a bagel with fresh fruit (banana or apple wedges) and low-fat milk
* Breakfast smoothie (milk, fruit and teaspoon of bran, whirled in a blender)
* Vegetable omelet with a bran muffin and orange juice

If your taste buds just do not crave breakfast foods in the morning, try:

* Lean ham on a toasted English muffin and vegetable juice
* Cheese pizza and orange juice
* Grilled vegetables mixed with beans and cilantro topped with cheese
* Heated leftover rice with chopped apples, nuts and cinnamon and fruit juice

Yes, yes, I know.

I just don't have an appetite first thing in the morning. I will work on it though. Definitely one of my goals!
